Guest Exhibition „To je moj pjat“ Opened at the Amphitheatre Gallery

On Friday, 19 June 2026, the guest exhibition “To je moj pjat” by the Archaeological Museum of Zadar, authored by Dino Taras and Ines Šelendić Taras, was opened at the Amphitheatre Gallery of the Archaeological Museum of Istria.

The exhibition is dedicated to ceramic vessels and traces of everyday life of the inhabitants of the ancient Adriatic, and through selected archaeological finds brings stories inscribed on objects that were once part of daily life, trade, and communication on the eastern Adriatic coast.

At the heart of the exhibition is a selection of ceramic bowls, plates, and other utilitarian objects found at the site of the Roman port at Zaton near Nin, one of the important trading centres of the ancient Adriatic that connected the eastern and western Mediterranean. Of particular value among the displayed finds are engraved graffiti and stamps on the vessels — names, ownership marks, and symbols left on the ceramics by their users or makers.

Such inscriptions, though seemingly simple, provide a rare and direct insight into the lives of people who, almost two thousand years ago, lived, worked, and traded in the region of the ancient Adriatic. Through these small personal traces, the exhibition brings the everyday life of past ages closer to visitors and reveals how even the most ordinary utilitarian objects can become valuable witnesses to history.

The exhibition is open to visitors at the Amphitheatre Gallery of the Archaeological Museum of Istria until 13 September 2026.
