The Archaeological Museum of Istria offers a wide range of services covering various specialist, educational, and cultural needs related to the preservation, presentation, and investigation of Istria's archaeological heritage. All services are provided by AMI's specialist departments, in collaboration with our many partners and other institutions.

Access to Museum Material and Documentation

AMI provides specialist access to its archaeological material, collections, and accompanying scientific and expert documentation, thereby supporting investigators and researchers in their work. Access is available upon prior notice and arrangement.

Archaeological Investigation

AMI performs rescue and systematic archaeological investigation at archaeological sites under the administrative supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Media, actively participating in fieldwork, documentation, and the specialist analysis of finds.

Conservation and Restoration Services

Our in-house Conservation and Restoration Department analyses, conserves, and restores archaeological material such as ceramics, metal, glass, stone, bone, and amber. In addition to work within the museum, staff also perform fieldwork analysis of mosaics, wall plasters, and frescoes, and regularly monitor the condition of exhibits, carrying out necessary conservation and restoration procedures as needed.

Expert Analysis

We provide expert opinions, consultations, and analysis of archaeological artefacts, sites, and documentation, providing support to a range of institutions and upon individual requests for the valorisation and preservation of cultural heritage.

Guided Tours and Workshops

We organise expert guided tours for group visits to sites and locations under AMI management (prior notice required). We also arrange educational workshops and lectures for various age groups (kindergarten, school, and university groups).

Exhibition Tours and Hosting

The Archaeological Museum of Istria regularly organises exhibitions at other museums and galleries, promoting Istria's archaeological heritage at home and abroad. We also organise and host exhibitions staged by other institutions.

Venue Hire

The Archaeological Museum of Istria offers venue hire for the staging of culture and other activities. A notable option available for hire is the Pula Amphitheatre, in accordance with regulations established by the Ministry of Culture and Media and the City of Pula, requiring the submission of an application and appropriate documentation.
