The Archaeological Museum of Istria proudly hosted the 9th International Numismatic Congress in Croatia, held in Pula on 14 and 15 November 2025.
This traditional event, first staged in 1995, brought together renowned numismatists from the region. The event was co-organised by the Croatian Numismatic Society and the Opatija chapter of Matica hrvatska under the patronage of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
This year's congress featured a rich program of lectures and discussions on numismatic topics, from new investigation, analysis, and conservation, to contemporary digital tools. More than twenty experts presented the latest insights covering the period from antiquity to modern times, through three thematic sessions focused on the earliest monetary circulation, the medieval period, and early modern numismatics.
Events like these reaffirm the importance of international cooperation, professional dialogue, and continuous study in the development of numismatics as a historical discipline.
