On 21 October 2026, the exhibition “Touch of Life” by Emil Mandarić opened at the Archaeological Museum of Istria. It was organised in collaboration with the Association of the Blind of Istria County to mark the 75th anniversary of the association’s work.
The exhibition offers a unique encounter with art that goes beyond the limits of visual experience, inviting visitors to get to know and explore the artworks through touch. The sculptures of Emil Mandarić, a self-taught artist who turned to sculpture as an adult after losing his sight, open up space for a different understanding of artistic expression and of the personal experience of art.
At the opening ceremony, the guests were addressed by Darko Komšo, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Istria, Zlatko Kuftić, President of the Association of the Blind of Istria County, and Emil Mandarić, the author of the exhibition. On this occasion, they highlighted the importance of making art accessible to all members of society and of creating spaces in which cultural content becomes accessible through different ways of experiencing it.
The exhibition “Touch of Life” also confirms the importance of cooperation between cultural institutions and civil society organisations in promoting inclusion, mutual understanding and equal opportunities to take part in the cultural life of the community.
The exhibition is open until 30 October 2026 on the first floor of the Archaeological Museum of Istria and can be visited Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm.
