Exhibition “Money, Time and Power – The Sipar Peninsula” at the Umag Town Museum

On 10 October 2026, the exhibition “Money, Time and Power – The Sipar Peninsula” opened at the Umag Town Museum. It is dedicated to the numismatic finds from the archaeological site of Sipar, which bear witness to its rich and layered history.

From Roman denarii and imperial coinage, through Ostrogothic and Byzantine coins, to Venetian money, the exhibition offers an engaging look at the historical development of the Sipar peninsula and its role in trade and social networks over the centuries. The coins found are not merely a means of payment, but also a valuable historical source that reveals the economic, political and social circumstances of different periods.

The exhibition was curated by Branka Milošević Zakić of the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments in Split and Erika Trbojević of the Archaeological Museum of Istria in Pula.

We invite all lovers of history, archaeology and cultural heritage to visit the Umag Town Museum and, through the numismatic finds, discover fascinating stories about the people, times and historical changes that shaped the Sipar peninsula.

The exhibition remains open until the end of February 2027.
