The Archaeological Museum of Istria is, for the third consecutive year, a partner in the project “Living Images of Austro-Hungarian Pula,” an event dedicated to the valorisation and presentation of Pula’s cultural and historical heritage from the period of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
As part of this year’s programme, on 28 August 2026 the Archaeological Museum of Istria hosted the scholarly colloquium “Cultural Heritage and History of Pula in the Austro-Hungarian Period,” which brought together experts and scholars presenting on various aspects of Pula’s heritage.
A special moment of the event was the presentation of the golden “Austria Imperialis” pin to Darko Komšo, museum advisor and Director of the Archaeological Museum of Istria. This honorary recognition is awarded during ceremonial events by representatives of the House of Habsburg-Lothringen, as an expression of appreciation for nurturing culture, tradition and historical heritage, and for contribution to the community.
In addition to Director Komšo, the recognition was also presented to the Istria County Prefect Boris Miletić, the Mayor of Pula Peđa Grbin, the Director of the Pula Tourist Board Sanja Cinkopan Korotaj, and the Head of the Istria County Administrative Department for Culture and Local Heritage Vladimir Torbica.
Through its participation in the project “Living Images of Austro-Hungarian Pula,” the Archaeological Museum of Istria continues to contribute to the preservation, research and presentation of the rich cultural and historical heritage of Pula and Istria.
