Ida Koncani Uhač joined an international research team at ARC-Nucléart, one of Europe's leading wood conservation centres. AMI museum advisor Koncani Uhač took part in the work as a representative of the Archaeological Museum of Istria. Advanced wood analysis is being performed at ARC-Nucléart, to be followed by the immersion of elements from the Zambratija boat in a PEG bath.
Also taking part in the working visit was archaeologist Marko Uhač of the regional conservation service in Pula, which operates under the umbrella of the Croatian culture and media ministry. The two Croatian experts joined a team of French specialists led by Giulio Boetto (CNRS, IPSO FACTO) in documenting and studying the structure of this exceptional boat, and planning future restoration and exhibition in an envisaged new museum space.
We were especially delighted to have Indira Dužević Radić of Croatia's Embassy to France on hand to express support for the project and underline its importance to Croatian heritage.
