Pula Hosted the International Workshop of the “Heritage on Stage” Project

On 21 and 22 May 2026, the Archaeological Museum of Istria hosted an international workshop as part of the “Heritage on Stage” project, dedicated to the role of museums and heritage sites in a contemporary cultural and social context.

The workshop was held with the support of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, and the Archaeological Museum of Istria, in cooperation with partners ICOM SEE, ICOM Croatia, INTERCOM, ICOM Hungary, ICOM BiH, ICOM Slovenia and ICOM Latvia.

During the two-day programme, participants addressed, through workshops and expert discussions, the topics of contemporary challenges in museum practice, audience development, organisation of cultural events and sustainable management of cultural heritage.

The workshop brought together museum professionals and representatives of cultural institutions from several European countries, once again confirming the importance of international cooperation in developing a contemporary approach to the management of cultural heritage.

In the final part of the programme, participants visited Brijuni National Park, where they were introduced to the natural and cultural heritage of Istria.
