Sixth Exhibition of the “Šareni trijem” Project Presented at the Amphitheatre Gallery

On the occasion of International Museum Day, on Monday, 18 May 2026, the exhibition “Šareni trijem: Mosaic” was opened at the Amphitheatre Gallery – the sixth exhibition of the eponymous project of the Archaeological Museum of Istria.

This year's exhibition brings together creative works by pupils from 19 primary and secondary schools across Croatia, inspired by the ancient art of mosaic and the rich cultural heritage of Pula.

The project was conceived by Dr Milena Joksimović, while the curatorial direction of the exhibition is signed by Dr Dunja Martić Štefan. The project connects archaeological heritage with contemporary student creativity, encouraging young authors to reinterpret ancient motifs through their own visual expression.

Alongside the students' works, visitors also have the opportunity to view the original Polychrome Mosaic with a figural scene from the theatre, dating from the first half of the 1st century.

The exhibition will remain open until 15 June 2026 and once again confirms the importance of connecting museums, education and contemporary artistic interpretation of cultural heritage.
