The conservation-restoration services of the Archaeological Museum of Istria include the primary and secondary processing of archaeological material, i.e., the conservation and restoration of objects made of ceramics, glass, metal, and stone. In addition to working on the material, the Department is able to prepare expert analyses and conservation-restoration reports.

The workshops can be visited by prior appointment to gain insight into the work and for consultations and information about conservation and restoration procedures.

Types of Interventions

  • primary processing of archaeological objects: washing, drying, inspection, and packaging
  • conservation-restoration work on objects made of ceramics, glass, metal, as well as stone and marble
  • on-site processing of mosaics, wall plasters, and frescoes
