The Archaeological Museum of Istria offers a wide range of services covering various professional, educational, and cultural needs related to the preservation, presentation, and research of Istria's archaeological heritage. All services are carried out by the museum's expert departments, in collaboration with numerous partners and institutions.
Access to Museum Materials and Documentation
The museum provides professional access to its archaeological materials, collections, and accompanying scientific and professional documentation, thereby supporting researchers and scientists in their work. Access is possible with prior notice and arrangement.
Archaeological Research
The museum conducts rescue and systematic archaeological research at archaeological sites under the administrative supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Media, actively participating in fieldwork, documentation, and scientific processing of finds.
Conservation and Restoration Services
The museum has its own Conservation and Restoration Department that processes, conserves, and restores archaeological materials such as ceramics, metal, glass, stone, bone, and amber. In addition to work within the museum, staff also conduct fieldwork to treat mosaics, wall plasters, and frescoes, and they regularly monitor the condition of exhibits, carrying out necessary conservation-restoration procedures as needed.
Expert Analyses
We offer expert opinions, consultations, and analyses on archaeological artifacts, sites, and documentation, providing support to various institutions and individual requests for the valorization and preservation of cultural heritage.
Guided Tours and Workshops
For group visits to sites and locations under the museum's management, expert guided tours can be organized with prior notice. It is also possible to arrange educational workshops and lectures for various age groups (kindergarten, school, and university groups).
Hosting and Guest Exhibitions
The Archaeological Museum of Istria regularly organizes guest exhibitions in other museums and galleries, promoting Istria's archaeological heritage at the national and international levels. At the same time, it organizes and hosts exhibitions from other institutions.
Venue Rental
The Archaeological Museum of Istria offers the rental of special venues for organizing cultural and other activities. A notable option is the rental of the Pula Amphitheater, which is conducted in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Culture and Media and the City of Pula, requiring the submission of an application and appropriate documentation.
