The Archaeological Museum of Istria cordially invites you to join us at the C8 Gallery at 12 noon on the 24 th of February 2017, at No. 8 Carrarina ulica in Pula, for the opening of the Neolithic Pottery Fabrication and Firing exhibition. The exhibition is authored by Archaeological Museum of Istria archaeologist and senior curator Romuald Zlatunić.

In collaboration with ceramist Marina Orlić, Romuald Zlatunić has endeavoured to reconstruct the technological process of the creation and firing of ceramic ware in Istria during the Neolithic period. The entire process has been recorded on camera by Kristijan Burlović, whose documentary film will be shown at the exhibition.

Visitors will have an opportunity to view ceramic ware created in the contemporary period as the result of the analysis of Neolithic potsherds and the utilisation of various ethnoarchaeological and anthropological data on traditional pottery in various regions.

The experimental process of fabricating ceramic ware ran for eight months in the course of the years 2009, 2014 and 2015, and consisted of the extraction of natural soil sediment, the formation of the clay mixture, the decoration of ware and figurines and their open-air firing.

The exhibition will be open for viewing from 24 February through to 4 April 2017. Entrance is free of charge.
